Our Story
In 2015, three digital designers—Alex Morgan, Zoe Chen, and Marcus Jenkins—found themselves asking the same question during a game jam: "Why did the chicken cross the road?" What started as a simple prompt for a game design challenge evolved into something much bigger. Their game "Crossed Roads" won the competition, and the team discovered they shared a vision for design that was both playful and purposeful.
They founded Chicken Road Design with a simple philosophy: help brands navigate the challenging "roads" of digital transformation with creativity and strategic thinking. Starting in a small co-working space in San Francisco with just three clients, the studio has since grown to a team of 18 designers, developers, and strategists serving clients across North America, Europe, and Asia.
The chicken road metaphor remained central to our approach—we're always asking what motivates users to take action, what obstacles might be in their way, and how to create the smoothest possible journey. This unique perspective has helped us develop award-winning websites, apps, and games that truly connect with users.
Today, Chicken Road Design is recognized as one of the most innovative design studios in the industry, having won multiple awards including the prestigious Digital Design Agency of the Year in 2022. But we still approach each project with the same curiosity that inspired our founding question: "Why did the chicken cross the road?"
